It's Gonna Be May! Blog Tour

This is the first time I’ve participated in a blog tour sponsored by Petite Stitchery & Co. On It’s Gonna Be May Blog Tour I chose Women's Emerson top pattern. I've never bought a pattern from Petite Stitchery & Co. before. This is my first time.

I love Women's Emerson because it's easy to wear for every day. After buy and download the pattern, I read it and found out that I should sew the size XL. Actually, I'm L size, but I do not want to make a press body top, then I choose XL. I intended to sew this project with cotton fabric instead of spandex/lycra as suggested. Because I don’t like to wear a top made of spandex/lycra, it will feel uncomfortable if wear in the tropical country because it doesn’t absorb the sweat.

Because I used a different fabric than the suggestion, I make a little modification, by increasing the height of the back of the neck and add a zipper for easy wearing.

Another modification is the addition of lace on the arm, and darts on the front and back waist to give a more slender shape to the garment.

I have to admit that some of these stitches I did with hand stitching because when the garment was not finished, I must go to accompanied my son to take the test outside the island. When my son was in his exam class I stitched this garment outside at the waiting room. Many people look at me in awe because I can sew garment by hand stitching, not with sewing machines. My lovely mother is the one who taught me to hand stitching the garment.

Here is the result, a very sweet outfit to wear every day.
