The Storyteller's Sampler Quilt - Michelin Babies

I worked this block with hand sewing techniques. To be honest I have never sewed blocks with this pattern. This is the first time I made it and made it in miniature size. Really challenging.

To sew hand piecing with normal-sized patterns, I usually use pins to mark the starting and ending points and the center lines of the pattern to be sewn. But with a miniature pattern, I use the baste stitch with a very different color of thread (I use red thread) so that it is easy to distinguish it from a thread that has the same color as the fabric, which will make it easy to remove the thread of the basting stitch.

But I'm still not satisfied with the results of my sewing because the thread is visible from above. I might need to repeat it using a magnifying glass so that my sewing is more precise on the pattern line.

This block pattern is part of The Storyteller's Sampler Quilt by Cinzia White which contains 359 miniature hexagon blocks, you can get it here. Cinzia is a very talented pattern maker.
